Lonely Planet’s best in travel 2014

Lonely Planet has chosen West Coast, New Zealand as one of the world’s Top 10 Regions for next year in LONELY PLANET’S BEST IN TRAVEL 2014.

BEST IN TRAVEL 2014 is Lonely Planet’s ninth eagerly-awaited annual collection of the best trends, destinations, journeys and experiences for the upcoming year.

West Coast, New Zealand is ranked eighth on the book’s list of Top 10 Regions 2014. Those who think they’ve seen it all should prepare for some enlivening surprises, Lonely Planet says.

Here’s your chance to venture into untamed territory normally well beyond your limits, such as the icy faces of Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, or beyond them into the midst of the Southern Alps on a scenic flight, the book says. Raft down the wild white waters of the Buller River, or kayak across New Zealand’s largest natural lagoon and up into narrow channels overhung with strange plants and enriched with birdlife.
